Welcome! We are delighted you stopped by!

We understand that visiting a new church can feel a bit overwhelming, but having an idea of what to expect can make the experience more comfortable. We hope this page provides you with all the information you need to prepare for your first visit and to learn more about our vibrant community of faith. We look forward to welcoming you, whether it’s for worship, a concert, an educational event, or a mid-week visit.

The Renton Seventh-day Adventist Church family is an amazingly multi-cultural group of people. Our members are from nearly every corner of the globe, encompassing more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Some came to the USA as refugees from war-torn regions of the world in search of safety and a better life for themselves and their families. As a Church family, we come together each Saturday in peace and harmony to worship God and fellowship with one another.

The first thing you need to know about us is that we are not perfect. We constantly realize that one cannot be a true Christian in a church with perfect people around. So, instead of trying to be an illusion, we strive to be a real place, with real people where we seek the answer to our predicament.   We do believe that life has meaning, that the world is not an accident, that “good” and “evil” are absolute, and God is in control. Our church is not a place where you receive prefabricated answers, but we affirm one certainty: the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And this is the truth that we seek and explore.

We understand that faith is not a doctrine but an experience – believing against all hope. So whether you believe or you cannot believe but you’d like to believe, our doors are wide open for you.

What to Expect in a Worship Service

We are thrilled to welcome new faces to our worship services, and we can’t wait to meet you!

Upon entering the lobby, you will be greeted by a friendly member of our congregation who will hand you a worship bulletin. This bulletin provides a detailed outline of the Order of Worship for the service, helping you follow along with ease.

Our worship service typically lasts about 90 minutes and includes a variety of meaningful elements. You can expect a thoughtful scripture reading that sets the tone for the day, as well as congregational prayers that invite the community to join together in reflection and supplication. Our pastor delivers an inspiring and engaging sermon designed to uplift and challenge you in your faith journey.

Music is an integral part of our worship experience. Hymns are led by talented song leaders, accompanied by piano or organ, creating a beautiful atmosphere for worship. In the sanctuary, you will find Seventh-day Adventist Hymnals located on the back of the pew in front of you, providing you with the lyrics and music for traditional hymns. Additionally, the words to the songs are projected on screens at the front of the sanctuary, making it easy for everyone to join in.

We wholeheartedly encourage you to participate fully by lifting your voice in song during the congregational hymns. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with others and express your faith through music. Whether you’re a seasoned worshiper or new to the experience, we hope you find joy and inspiration in our worship service!

Online Attendance

Join us from anywhere! You can participate from wherever you are—whether it’s your living room, your car, or even while you are out camping. No matter your location, you can be a part of Renton SDA Church! Our sanctuary worship service is streamed live every Saturday morning and is also available on-demand on Facebook (@renton.adventists) or YouTube (@RentonSDA) at any time.

Please be aware that the service time may change due to holidays, special events, guest speakers, or congregational meetings.

Where should I park?

Our church parking lot is located immediately in front of the Church on the Monroe Avenue NE side of the facility. Once the paved portion of the lot is full, we have a grass field for overflow parking, or you may choose to park on the street in front of our church as well.

How Early Should I arrive?

Plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes before the start of events. This will give you a chance to get parked, make your way into the building, ask questions of any of our greeters or deacons and find a place to sit.

Where should I enter the building?

We ask that all members and guests enter the building via the parking lot entrance off Monroe Avenue NE. Look for the awning with the welcome banners written in several different languages. This entrance provides fully accessible access to the lobby and sanctuary areas.

What should I wear?

When attending our worship service, you may notice that many individuals opt for traditional “church attire,” which often includes dresses, slacks, and button-down shirts, sometimes accompanied by coats and ties. However, it’s equally common to see people dressed in a more casual or relaxed manner. Our church community is wonderfully diverse, and as such, you will often find members wearing clothing that reflects their cultural backgrounds and personal styles.

We wholeheartedly encourage you to come as you are, embracing your own sense of comfort and expression. Our focus is on worshiping God, who welcomes each of us just as we are, regardless of our attire. Whether you choose to dress up or keep it casual, what matters most is your presence and participation in our community. We look forward to welcoming you!

Bringing Your Children? That’s Fantastic!

We think it’s wonderful that you plan to bring your children along! Renton is a place where kids can feel safe, have fun, and grow in their faith.

Children of all ages are always invited to worship with their families. If you’re attending in person and wish to keep your little ones with you, our children’s worship bags are available to help keep them engaged. You can find these bags in the hallway near the classrooms, or feel free to ask one of our staff members for assistance.

We also have a “quiet room” for parents who have small children who may not be ready to sit quietly for an entire church service. It is located at the back, right side of the sanctuary.

If you’re attending in person and would like your kids to join our children’s programs, our friendly teachers and leaders are eager to welcome them and answer any questions you may have. We recommend allowing a few extra minutes to get your children settled before heading to the adult Sabbath school class. Parents are always welcome to sit in on the children’s class to see what activities take place!

On the 2nd Saturday of each month we have a dedicated children’s church event for all the children while their parents attend the divine worship service in the sanctuary.

Renton’s Adventurers and Pathfinders clubs are youth groups within the Seventh-day Adventist Church which are designed for children and teens. Their purpose is to provide a fun and engaging environment where our young people can develop valuable life skills, build lasting friendships, and grow in their faith. Through a variety of activities, including outdoor adventures, community service, and spiritual development, Pathfinders aim to encourage personal growth and foster a commitment to God, church, and community.

Do I Need to Inform You That I’m New?

Absolutely not! While we are genuinely excited to welcome you, we assure you that you won’t be put on the spot. We would love for you to introduce yourself to our staff when you arrive, but it’s entirely your choice.

During our worship service, we typically invite visitors to stand up and introduce themselves at the beginning of the service. However, please know that you are under no obligation to participate if you’re not comfortable. We completely understand that many people prefer to come and experience the church without feeling pressured to engage right away.

Feel free to come in, relax, and enjoy your visit at your own pace. Take your time to observe and see if our community aligns with what you’re looking for. We’re here to support you in your journey, and we hope you find a welcoming atmosphere that feels just right for you!

What If I’m Unsure About Church or Religion?

If you’re feeling uncertain about church or religion, we warmly invite you to come and experience our service without any pressure or expectations. Join us to enjoy the uplifting sounds of music, participate in engaging classes, and immerse yourself in a welcoming community.

It’s completely normal to have questions or doubts, and we believe that everyone’s journey is unique. By attending, you can explore what resonates with you personally. Our community is here to support you, and we understand that everyone has to start somewhere.

Feel free to take your time as you navigate your thoughts and feelings about faith. You are welcome to simply observe, participate at your own pace, or even ask questions if you feel inclined. We’re excited to share this experience with you and hope you find joy, connection, and perhaps even a sense of belonging during your visit.

How Can I Get Involved?

If you’re looking to get involved at Renton, there are countless opportunities waiting for you! Whether you have a wonderful singing voice and would like to join our music ministry, enjoy working with children and want to help in our children’s ministry, or are seeking to connect with other adults for fellowship and support, there’s something for everyone.

Additionally, if you’re passionate about making a difference, consider volunteering your time to assist others in our local community or even participating in outreach projects that extend to different parts of the world.

Two of our latest – and biggest – projects include our “Giving Table” community food distribution held the first Saturday of each month as well as our planning and development of a cultural community garden which will be planted in our field.

We encourage you to explore the various pages on this website to discover the different programs and activities we offer.
